Introduction to Retrofit Courses

We are running brand new Introduction to Retrofit courses from September to December at Tod College. These courses are completely FREE(the college can also support with travel and lunch expenses) and are a fantastic opportunity to gain practical retrofit skills whilst working on a real-life project. The course will include practical skills; installing insulation, draught proofing, DIY skills, how to work with natural and sustainable materials and basic tool use. As well as health and safety training, understanding the critical role of retrofit in tackling climate change, employability skills and career opportunities.

It will be a mostly practical course and you will be doing manual work and working at heights on most days. You will need to wear appropriate clothing for carrying out manual work that covers arms, legs and chest and strong, sturdy boots.

The Community Grants project is being delivered by Groundwork UK and is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). In West Yorkshire the West Yorkshire Combined Authority leads the implementation of the Fund as part of the Mayor’s ambition to make West Yorkshire the best place to work, learn and live.

Duration: 10 days

Times: 09:30 am – 15:00 pm

Location: Tod College, Burnley Road, Todmorden, OL14 7BX

To be eligible for this funding, participants must:

  • Be aged 18+ (or aged 16 and 17 if the participant is not involved with / supported by / looked after by any other provision)
  • Be unemployed or economically inactive
  • Have permission to work in the UK.
