Wind farm funds energy saving

Tod College is one of eight groups are celebrating securing much needed grant support as the Reaps Moss Community Fund announces its 2023 funding awards.

The local Reaps Moss Wind Farm has been providing funding through its Community Fund since 2016 and has just seen the 50th local project supported. The total shared by the 51 groups who have benefited now stands at a huge £90,000.

This year’s recipients share a windfall of £16,015. Scooping the largest individual grant this year is Bacup Royal Court Theatre who will use a £3,500 grant to update their sound equipment. Stephen Woods, Theatre Director said: “The grant will help support the purchase of much need sound equipment for our amateur shows to enhance the sound quality and audience experience – it also free up funds elsewhere enabling the theatre to remain viable.”

Securing £2,500 to upgrade their building is Todmorden Learning Centre and Community Hub Ltd. Julie Thorpe, CEO and Centre Manager said: “Todmorden Learning Centre and Community Hub is deLIGHTed to receive this funding from the Reaps Moss Community Fund. It will help us to install LED light fittings which will save both money and carbon emissions – making our Centre more sustainable to serve its community in the longer term. We are committed to the use of renewable energy sources and so we are really happy to receive this support from a local green energy producer.”
